On the evening of May 1, the opening match of the 2026 City Football Super League (Hereinafter referred to as "Gan Chao") got underway at the Nanchang International Sports Center Stadium, as host side Nanchang Team faced off against defending champions Ganzhou Team. After 90 minutes of intense action, Ganzhou secured a 1-0 victory over Nanchang to claim a winning start to the new campaign.

Nanchang Team made squad adjustments in the off-season, boosting their squad depth for the current season. Playing in front of their home fans, they dictated the tempo from the opening whistle, launching a string of attacks down the left flank and repeatedly testing the Ganzhou goal.

In the second half, Ganzhou Team upped their intensity in midfield pressing and carved out multiple dangerous chances via rapid counter-attacks. In the 55th minute, No.27 Zhang Changping headed home a cross from the right flank to net the first goal of the 2026 Ganchao, putting GanzhouTeam firmly in the driving seat. For the remainder of the game, Nanchang Team tried to turn the tide with tactical substitutions, but failed to find an equaliser. At the final whistle, the scoreline was locked at 1-0, with the defending champions taking the opening match and sealing a perfect start to the new season.

After the match, Ganzhou Team captain Lu Xin said, "The championship is a thing of the past. This year, we start from scratch, and we will fight to defend our title with the utmost humility."
本赛季赣超联赛共设69场比赛，其中5—8月进行的常规赛各队将进行主客场单循环比赛，前八名进入淘汰赛。9月开始的淘汰赛采取双回合赛制，决赛采取单回合赛制。第一轮剩余4场比赛将于5月2日、3日晚间进行。
This year's Ganchao features a total of 69 matches. The regular season, running from May to August, will see all teams compete in a home-and-away single round-robin format, with the top eight finishers advancing to the knockout stage. The knockout phase, which kicks off in September, will adopt a two-legged format, while the final will be played as a single-legged tie. The remaining four matches of the first round will be held on the evenings of May 2 and 3.
